TPO and PVC Installation with Two-Stage Adhesives
TPO and PVC roofing membranes are typically applied with industrial adhesives and mechanical fasteners to create a weather barrier and insulate commercial facilities. One popular method of TPO and PVC installation is by utilizing metal plates or pucks that are pretreated with a two or B stage adhesive. By utilizing a two-stage TPO adhesive, the metal plates can be installed with the TPO and PVC membranes, and then bonded after installation through a heat induction process that is now a commonly accepted roofing method and one that continues to grow at an accelerated rate.
By permanently bonding TPO and PVC through induction bonding, fastener penetration is eliminated,which improves energy savings and provides added protection and integrity of the roofing membrane. A typical TPO and PVC single-ply membrane is manufactured in sheets that are either 10, 12 or 20 feet wide in rolls that are delivered ready for installation. When installed with roofing plates and pucks treated with UNICHEM’s two-stage adhesive, the membrane is then induction bonded. This creates superior reliability and is a proven method for installing single-ply membranes.
